Imagen del libroJaime Guzmán is considered the civil with must power during Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship, for his participation in the writing of the 1980’s Constitution, as well as for his protagonist role in the institutional building-process in the dictatorship’s aftermath. This work aims at determining the causes which explain his moving apart from traditional positions and his gradual embracement of authoritarian liberalism. The endorsement of the latter would ended up guiding his ideological contribution to the regime, and thereby, to the future democracy. The documental analysis allow us to affirm that his capacity to assimilate and apply ideas to the political reality in which he is engaged, made of him a nexus between traditional conservatism and economical neoliberal thought in Chile.
