This article attempts to present a general view of the doctrine of pro-Pinochet university students of the Universidad de Chile during the first years of the military dictatorship. It explores their concept of university student and the mechanisms of student representation, both consistent with the views of the regime they supported.

A los 55 años, el historiador Cristián Gazmuri Riveros es considerado uno de los intelectuales más destacados del Chile actual. Con estudios primarios y secundarios en el colegio Saint George, su educación universitaria la obtuvo en la universidad Católica de Chile donde estudio leyes hasta 1974, recibiéndose de abogado tres años después. Al mismo tiempo, obtuvo una licenciatura en el Instituto de Historia, en 1976. Continuó sus estudios fuera del país haciendo una maestría en el Instituto de Historia de la University of California at Berkeley, obteniendo el grado académico de Master of Arts in History, en Junio 1978. Más tarde estudio en la Université de Paris I, Pantheon-Sorbonne, donde obtuvo su doctorado con distinción máxima, con la tesis: "Santiago Arcos, un Quarante-Huitard chilien", en Junio de 1988.

This paper analyzes the effect silicosis had on cooper miners who worked at the Gran Minería del Cobre (Great Cooper Mines) which were mainly owned by American capital. It also studies the denounces and legal demands that doctors and unionists made in order to overcome the deadly effects of this disease over a key sector of our economy.

This paper studies the anti Pinochet protests that began in may of 1983 and the role carried out by democratic students of the Universidad Catolica (UC) in their struggle for democracy in Chile. It focuses on the democratization of student representative organs which was finally achieved when the Student Federation (FEUC) had its first true democratic elections in 1985.

This article studies the debates that Chilean historians of different tendencies have developed in recent years. In particular, beginning with the Manifiesto de Historiadores, the reactions it provoked, and the debates published in the journal El Mercurio in 1999. This essay states that the discussions reveal the positions that Chilean historiography adopts when faced with the key themes of the discipline: the concept of History, the social function of History and historians, memory, etc.

This essay is about the history of rock music viewed as an historical experience. Rock music is assessed as one of the emblematic manifestations of our contemporaneity. Thus, what began as a danceable and teenage oriented genre, later on became one of the most important counter cultural proposals defying the North American capitalist system, and paradoxically as well, one of the most successful businesses of the second half of the century.
